Today, the Göreme Open Air Museum is considered to be the birthplace of the monastic education system. The churches of Durmuş Kadir, Yusuf Koç, El Nazar, Saklı, Virgin Mary, and Kılıçlar create a fascinating impact on visitors. St. Basil the Great and his brothers united Christian ideas in the Göreme Open Air Museum. The architectural details and murals of the Tokalı church, the Monastery of Monks and Nuns, St. Basil's Chapel, and St. Barbara, Elmalı, Yılanlı, Karadağ, and Çarıklı churches appear as vivid today as when they were originally built originally built.
